Xuyuan Hotel Dalian
Cheap family rooms a short hop from Zhongshan Square
About this hotel
Position at this price is the argument here. A short taxi ride from Zhongshan Square puts this three-star inside the old-centre grid, within reach of the 201 and 202 trams, the seafood halls and the Victory Square metro interchange, which is what a fan actually needs when the fixture is out in Ganjingzi and the return happens after dark. The property carries kid-friendly tagging, unusual at this rate, and the guest scores are excellent. What it does not have is breakfast, a bar or parking, so families should plan meals around the surrounding streets and drivers should look at the Friendship Square options instead. Fans staying here are buying a well-rated room in the right part of Dalian for very little money, and for a one or two night trip built around an event at Dalian Sports Center that is a sound way to spend a budget.
- Old-centre position
- Family friendly
- Budget rate
- Highly rated
Our take
A strong budget choice for families and couples who want the old centre without paying four-star money for it. The ratings are excellent and the position does the heavy lifting. Fans arriving by car should look elsewhere, since no parking is listed and the streets around Zhongshan Square are unforgiving, and anyone needing breakfast before an early start will have to find it outside.
- Eat breakfast in the streets around Zhongshan Square, nothing is included in the rate here
- Take the tram rather than a taxi for your first evening, it crosses the whole old centre
- Book early for a concert weekend, small well-rated properties in this district fill first
Why we love it
- A short hop from Zhongshan Square at a budget rate
- Kid-friendly facilities rarely found this cheap
- Excellent guest ratings for a small property
- Trams and the Victory Square metro close at hand
