The rooms stay basic, no bar downstairs and no restaurant to fall back on, but the location inside the walkable core means the self-catering trade-off rarely costs you time on the walk in. It suits a group booking who cares more about flexibility than finish, arriving with their own food and leaving with the same short walk to the stadium that the pricier hotels nearby charge more for.

We booked this as a group of six travelling in for a Wales match and the kitchen meant nobody fought over the hotel breakfast room the next morning before an early kickoff. The rooms are basic, no getting around that, but the walk into the city centre loop was short enough that we did not mind trading polish for a place to cook and split the cost across the group.
